Working in partnership with The City and County of Honolulu, the premier junior golf organizations in the state, the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) and First Tee – Hawaii have become the operator of the driving range at the Ala Wai Golf Course.
The newly formed “Ala Wai Golf Center” will encompass the driving range and headquarters of the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association and First Tee – Hawaii. In addition, the Center will open a retail shop that will feature the new logo on clothing and other soft and hard goods. The Center has signed an exclusive deal with Callaway Golf to provide golf balls, gloves, and rental clubs. The retail shop is scheduled to open this summer.
The HSJGA/First Tee – Hawaii which is based at the Center will handle its daily operations from the facility as well as managing all programming for these youth non-profit organizations dedicated to teaching keiki the fundamentals of golf and life skills.

2022 Coaching Program:
- Seeking parents, coaches, and volunteers for the 2022 Junior Golf Season. Coaches don’t need to be a professional instructor or scratch player to make a difference. Anyone with an interest in golf and positively impacting the lives of youth is encouraged to sign-up. Volunteer opportunities are available asAssistant Golf Coaches, On-Course Mentors, Registration Administrators, Golf Equipment Coordinators, Safety Coordinators and Special Events Coordinators and Assistants.
Coach Training Sessions (Oahu & Maui):
- The First Tee national headquarters will be providing training for entry level coaches on May 20-21, 2022, at the Ala Wai Golf Center in Honolulu and May 22-23, 2022 at the Dunes at Maui Lani in Kahului, Maui, Hawaii. All training is provided free of charge. Coaches don’t need to be a professional instructor or scratch player to make a difference.
Staffing:
- HSJGA/First Tee – Hawaii is hiring for all positions. Full-time and part-time employment is available for counter help, operations, sales, retail and maintenance. Hours are flexible with a generous pay and compensation program (including free range balls!).
